A Message from Jackie and Todd

As many of you may have heard, Sacramento National Dance Day will now be presented by the local branch of the YMCA. We came to this decision based on the busyness of both of our lives now but we are ecstatic that Dolly and the YMCA will be stepping in to represent SacNDD for the Love of Dance!

From Jackie:

When I approached Todd with the idea of doing Sacramento National Dance Day I never had dreams of what it would become today. I set out to try to unify like-minded dancers and dance fitness instructors to get together and show some Sacramento pride. Seeing it turn into an event that was unifying larger crowds and raising money for charitable causes means so much to me! This is part of the reason that the decision to transition out of coordinating SacNDD was one that took almost two years to get to.

Dolly has been a critical component in the growth of SacNDD and I can’t thank her enough for helping in past years as well as taking charge in taking over the event with the YMCA. The YMCA’s programs make an impact in the lives of many and especially in the lives of youth which is what we are all about.

Seeing this event be a catalyst for so many new friendships and opportunities has been amazing! I’ve gotten the opportunity to see young instructors evolve into master instructors and go from newbies to fixtures in their scenes. I’m excited to be able to show up as a participant and look forward to running around less and dancing more!

Thank you all for your continued support I can’t wait to see you all this year and in years to come.

With love,

– Jackie

From Todd:

Hey everyone! This is Todd, I’ve been the designer, photographer, occasional MC, and behind the scenes support system for Jackie as she has built SacNDD from 40 people to now seeing crowds of 350+ people. My involvement with SacNDD is nothing in comparison to all the work Jackie has done but I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t get to thank all of the participants and instructors who have continued to show support along the way. We have grown year over year and the energy of the event has continued to represent LOVE. Love for Sacramento, love for dance, love for one another and we all know the world needs more of that.

It’s warmed my heart to see so many of you rocking your “For the Love of Dance” shirts well after the events have passed. Seeing you all share the photos and videos has just been icing on the cake and part of the reason that I personally continued to be a part of it even when things got tough and we got busier. I love what the Y does for the community and Dolly is the embodiment of what it means to love dance so I know that SacNDD is in good hands.

I’m amazed every year by the turnout and I’m so excited to see what Dolly and everyone at the YMCA can bring in years to come. We look forward to being participants in the upcoming years and seeing SacNDD grow for the love of dance!

-Todd

We want to say thank you to all of the instructors and participants for joining us, this was our best year yet! With your help we were able to raise enough money to sponsor ten children locally to be able to participate in Studio T’s dance academy. We were also able to help get a dance program in a school in the US, and we couldn’t have done it with out your support so thank you so much!

Thanks again to everyone that came out.
